Thanksgiving Weekend (Day 1 – Friday)

We headed out from Atlanta on Thursday night after we had the Thanksgiving dinner with Trent’s family. It was a great time!  We got to Blue Ridge Parkway at 1.30 am of Friday and car camped there. Then around 9 am, we were heading to Kitsuma Trail in Montreat, North Carolina.

It was so much fun on this trail.

It was a lot of climbing up at first, but it was not that bad because of all the view.  To be honest, I walked quite a bit. But whenever you get to the top, you have a lot of moderate technical and flowy downhill all for yourself.  I rode a little bit slower than many might do because it was my first time at the trail, and I’m still not that good at mountain biking. I still need to go out a lot more and improve my skills.

Oh, and another reason, there were a lot of leaves on the ground covering the trail on that day. First, it can make the trail more slippery, and second you don’t see any rocks or roots beneath it.

If you are a good mountain biker, those factors shouldn’t matter much because you will fly by so fast on the downhill. Even with all that, for me, I was enjoying the trail a lot!  The downhill is always my favorite. I can’t wait to go back and ride on it again!

We finished our ride around 1.30 pm. Then it was time for lunch. We went to Ole’s Guacamoles (Mexican Restaurant) in Black Mountain, NC for lunch. They do have a lot of vegetarian options there.

After lunch, we headed back up to Blue Ridge Parkway and looked for a good spot to camp out. We found a good one with the view and good 4G phone service.  Woohoo!  It was definitely a good day.
