Don’t want to be stranded in the middle of a mountain bike trail?

Thanksgiving Weekend (Day 3 – Sunday)
We got a very beautiful sunrise in the morning. On that day, Trent wanted to ride on more advanced trails but I was in a lazy mode and wanted to take it easy. We drove to the picnic area of Davidson River Campground. So that Tsali and I could hang out there while Trent went on his solo ride on Sycamore Cove and Black Mountain Trails.
Sycamore Cove and Black Mountain Trails | Brevard, North Carolina
Distance 18.1 mi, Elevation 3,224 ft, Moving Time: 2:42:14, Energy Output: 981, Elapsed Time: 3:35:09
More information of this ride is here. https://www.strava.com/activities/1292028276 And if you want, you can follow Trent’s Strava too!
Sometimes you just have to fix your bike on the trail.
Black Mountain Trail is rated as most difficult or expert ranking. There are a lot of drops and loose rocky sections. Lower Black is more playful with lots of rock kickers to get air off of and few chunky spots.
On the downhill, Trent started to have an issue with his derailleur (it came loose) and the chain twisted. He needed to pop the quick link on his chain to put it back together. He used a shoe string on the outside of the quick link to break it.
Trent finished his ride around 3.30 pm. On the way back, we stopped at a spring on Blue Ridge Parkway (35.588076, -82.306730) to get spring water before heading back home. We got home around 8.30 pm.
And this is the end of our 2017 Thanksgiving Weekend Trip! We’re so thankful to be able to do what we love on this special holiday.
