Travato 59K Bathroom Door Hack: Curtain Instead of Sliding Door

If you own a Winnebago Travato 59K, you already know the struggle with the stock bathroom sliding door. It’s one of those “features” that looks good on paper but falls short in real van life.

The Problem with the Stock Door

The sliding door constantly gets stuck when trying to open or close it. The mechanism is finicky, especially in a compact space where you’re moving around with gear, towels, or after a shower. It got so annoying that I basically stopped using the bathroom door altogether.

My Simple DIY Curtain Solution

I decided to try something easier and more practical. I picked up this curtain (36×72) from Amazon [amzn.to/3Tdbu7F] — it fit the bathroom entry perfectly in both width and height.

Installation was straightforward:

  • I used the existing screws already located at the perfect spots on the top left and right of the entryway.
  • Added a long strip of fabric along the top of the curtain to create a sturdy hanging point.
  • Ran the existing screws through the fabric to secure both sides.
  • For extra support in the middle, I used these Command Clear Hooks (damage-free) [amzn.to/4fLpVIN].

No drilling, no permanent modifications, and everything stays clean and removable.

The Results

The outcome is exactly what I wanted. I now have smooth, effortless access to the bathroom without fighting the door. Privacy is fully maintained, and it feels much more functional for daily van life.

This small change has made a big difference in how enjoyable the Travato 59K layout feels on the road.
